THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE POSITION IN NORFOLK, VA

Local office of national publisher in immediate need of an experienced AP specialist to join their team asap!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes vendor invoices timely and accurately with appropriate general ledger coding.
  • Assign general ledger account codes to vendor invoices
  • Careful review of incoming documents, performing accurate batching, scanning, and data entry. You will need awareness of global vendors and multiple currencies as well potential 1099 & 1042 tax implications on payments.
  • Manage Accounts Payable inbox, communicate professionally with vendors and internal expense owners to ensure issues get resolved quickly.
  • Maintain knowledge of the department's workflows; you will need the to troubleshoot, resolve or escalate issues arising from customers. You will need to provide training and guidance on standard procedures to offshore team.
  • Research and respond to daily inquiries from our customers in a professional, and timely manner. Build partnerships with customers and colleagues to provide first-rate customer service. Respond to ad hoc reports/queries and provide accurate data
  • Maintain an understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance. Emphasis on maintaining controls over bank account updates. Follow departmental procedures. Provide suggestions for improvement to job aids.
  • You will need to function as back-up to other AP specialists. Participate in special projects and complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in implementation of new financial systems
  • Technological capabilities and experience with Microsoft Office are required. Comprehension of intermediate Microsoft Excel functions is preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Combination of education and experience equal to at least 1 year of full cycle Accounts Payable processing including invoice processing, supplier maintenance, and cash management
  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application such as PeopleSoft and Workday Financials
  • Experience working in a network environment with client server technology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Google suite
  • Superior customer service skills including patience, empathy, and problem resolution.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and resolve or escalate business problems.
  • Ability to multitask and meet established deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
LOCATION: Norfolk, VA

SALARY: $45k based on experience

HOURS: 8 hour shift starting as early as 7:30AM. 2 days on site/3 days remote work from home.
